Cross the Alps by road bike over the legendary cols of Croix de Fer, Galibier, Izoard and Cime de la Bonette.

Join the KoMunity peloton for an exceptional crossing of the Alps: Across The Alps, from Grenoble to Nice, following the legendary Route des Grandes Alpes.

Dreaming of cycling across the Alps on one of France's most iconic routes? Join the KoMunity peloton for Across The Alps, a 6-day cycling trip from Grenoble to Nice, following the legendary Route des Grandes Alpes.

Mythical cols, spectacular roads, breathtaking scenery: each stage is an invitation to push your limits at the heart of the French Alps. Croix de Fer, Galibier, Izoard, Cime de la Bonette… you'll tackle the great alpine giants on the roads where cycling history was written. An exceptional road cycling journey, designed for lovers of long climbs and wide open spaces.

Stages range from 70 to 115 km, with elevation gains of 1,350 to 2,730 m — demanding, but well within reach for any well-prepared cyclist. Our support vehicle rides with you from start to finish, there to cheer you on and keep you fuelled along the way. And because a great cycling trip is also about what happens off the bike, every end of stage means a relaxed debrief, a well-earned meal and a restful night in a comfortable hotel. Each morning you set off fresh and motivated, ready to take on the next cols.

From snow-capped summits above 2,500 m to the warmth of the Côte d'Azur, arriving on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice is the ultimate reward for this magnificent journey. Party mandatory.

An all-inclusive cycling trip: coaching, support vehicle, accommodation and good vibes guaranteed.

Good ride. Good vibe.

Day after day

D1 · Wednesday 18/08 · Grenoble - Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne

Morning : From Grenoble, the ride follows the Romanche valley as the great adventure begins. The road climbs gradually, perfect for easing into the rhythm and warming up the legs before the real mountains arrive.

Afternoon : First major climb of the trip: the Croix-de-Fer. An ascent that immediately sets the tone for the entire Across The Alps crossing. The descent into Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne brings a beautiful first day to a close.

Distance: 103 km
Elevation gain: 2,320 m

D2 · Thursday 19/08 · Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne - Briançon

Morning : A few easy kilometres through the Maurienne valley before tackling one of the most legendary climbs in cycling: Télégraphe + Galibier. Peaking at 2,642 m, the Galibier is the most frequently featured climb in Tour de France history, and it's back on the 2026 route. Could Paul Seixas take the stage win?

Afternoon : A relaxed descent to the Col du Lautaret, then on to Briançon through the Clarée valley. The highest fortified city in Europe welcomes you for the night.

Distance: 85 km
Elevation gain: 2,360 m

D3 · Friday 20/08 · Briançon - Jausiers

Morning : No easing in today: the day kicks off straight away with one of the most beautiful climbs in the Alps, the Izoard. Make sure you warm up properly this morning! At the summit, a stele pays tribute to the cycling legends who made these slopes famous, from Louison Bobet to Fausto Coppi. Then comes the descent through the Casse Déserte: its lunar landscape of ochre scree and rocky spires is one of the most breathtaking scenes of the entire crossing. A moment you won't forget.

Afternoon : The route winds through the wild Queyras Natural Park before one final push to the Col de Vars. Last climb of the day, and the gateway to the Alpes de Haute-Provence. Somewhere between two summits, you start to feel the sea isn't so far away anymore.

Distance: 91 km
Elevation gain: 2,510 m

D4 · Saturday 21/08 · Jausiers - Roquebillière (Queen Stage)

Morning : The rooftop of this crossing. The Cime de la Bonette, perched at 2,860 m, is one of the highest roads in Europe — and the wind up there makes sure you know it. A formidable climb that carries you into the Alpes-Maritimes for the final push to Nice. At the summit, a 360° panorama sweeps across the Southern Alps and the Italian peaks on the horizon. The feeling is something else.

Afternoon : Nearly 60 km of descent through the Mercantour Natural Park: your legs finally get a break while your eyes feast on the scenery. One last effort over the Col de la Colmiane, then the descent along the Vésubie river brings you gently back down to the valley. Nice is already tomorrow.

Distance: 114 km
Elevation gain: 2,730 m

D5 · Sunday 22/08 · Roquebillière - Nice

Morning : One last col, and what a col it is: the Col de Turini, made legendary by the Monte-Carlo Rally and Paris-Nice, delivers a final spectacular climb before the long plunge down to the sea. The hairpins unwind, the Mediterranean glitters in the distance, and every pedal stroke brings you closer. Savour it — it's the last one of your Across The Alps crossing.

Afternoon : The Promenade des Anglais. After more than 450 km and 11,500 m of climbing through the French Alps, you're rolling along the seafront with the Mediterranean at your side. Arriving in Nice is a reward as grand as the adventure itself: breathtaking, well-deserved, unforgettable. Congratulations.

Time to celebrate, the party can begin. You've more than earned it.

Distance: 70 km
Elevation gain: 1,350 m

Our support

F.A.Q.

What types of bikes are suitable for KomUnity platoons?

For our platoons, a road bike is necessary. We offer high-end carbon bikes for rent, available with electric assistance if required. If you wish, you can also come with your own bike.

Not sure if I have the level to join a platoon?

No average speed is required to join the KomUnity platoon. Everyone rides and climbs at their own pace, and at the top of each pass, you wait until the group is complete to leave.
Most of the destinations in our pelotons are in the mountains, so our courses are demanding: you must be able to drive between 80 and 100 km for at least 1500m of positive altitude difference at each stage.
We offer the rental of electric bikes with a range of more than 100km to allow you to overcome any difficulty.
We want to continue to see women's cycling develop. Our platoons are therefore all mixed, without exception.

How many cyclists make up the KomUnity peloton?

Depending on the capacity of our base camps, you will ride and share your evenings with 10 to 20 cyclists. Wonderful encounters guaranteed!

What accommodation (s) await me after the stage?

After a day of cycling, it's time for some well-deserved rest.
We selected the crème de la crème accommodations to set up our base camps. Everything is done to offer you maximum comfort and that you can recharge your batteries while enjoying the landscape.

And food is important, isn't it?

Primordial! Everything you need to avoid the craving is provided: gels, snacks, cold water cans and energy drinks.
As you are a cyclist, but also a gourmet and a bon vivor, you also plan to have an aperitif and a good dinner every evening.

Can I privatize a platoon?

Yes, all our travel packages and platoons can be privatized for your events. Go to the komunity.cc/events page and let us know what adventure you want for your group.

Who is this cute little guy?

He is KoMi, a raccoon who is a fan of cycling and cycling trips. What he prefers are mountain stages, and gourmet breaks

Do you have questions?

Our team will be happy to answer them!

Your testimonies

Because you're the one who talks about it best...

Great bike time spent with colleagues and organizers who were really great!
Julian P.
Already two KomUnity Pelotons under my belt during the 2023 and 2024 Tour de France, all with friends. The first in the Alps to fight against the percentages of Ramaz and the second in Ariège to enjoy nature in the hairpin bends of the Col d'Agnes.
Thanks to KomUnity and Brieux for organizing, with great care, these moments of sport but above all of sharing, conviviality, surpassing oneself and discovering magnificent landscapes. France by bike is even more beautiful.
Simon D.
Superb organization proposed by KomUnity and Brieux each year through various journeys, Mont Ventoux and its surroundings, a visit to Ariège but also days on the Tour route!
The sports program, but adapted to the group, allows you to combine performance, fun and discovery!
Thanks again!!
